After the migration your site will be hosted on a server with an IP address beginning with 194.154.164.x. Please ensure that your local DNS cache has been cleared prior to using ping www.your-domain-name.com.

Yes - On 9th January we are beginning the process of moving websites onto a new platform in our dedicated hosting centre.

Yes, some although we're automatically making many of the changes prior to the migration. However, please be aware that if you upload locally stored pages or scripts this will overwrite the changes we've made - better to make a local copy of the migrated site and make any local changes to this copy.

The following summarises the changes that we're making and specifies any changes that you need to make:

    • register_globals is enabled by default - users can change this by editing the php.ini file in their web directory

    • The default version of PHP is PHP 5 - users can override this by renaming their scripts to use the .php4 filename extension.

    • Users may force the use of PHP 4 within their webspace by making the following change to the public_html/.htaccess file:-
      AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php

    • Support for PHP 3 has been withdrawn - by default all PHP scripts will execute under PHP 5 unless overridden to run under PHP 4 as above.

    • The availability of the virtual() function has been withdrawn - customers should in future use include() or require()

    • Functions beginning with "apache_" will no longer work - the new platform does not support mod_php

We have changed the format of the login name for ftp from "f2s_member_name" to f2s_member_name@your_domain_name.com please try again with this new format.

Some webmaster account websites will have their password reset to their members area password after the migration. If you can't login after changing the ftp login name to the format above, please see webmaster faq below. If you are not using a webmaster account then it will be a standard forgotten password problem and you can reset your password as usual in your members area.

Yes, every customer who subscribes to our ADSL or SDSL services will automatically have free webspace (200Mb). Even if you have not used this webspace, it's still there for your use and as such will be moved over onto our new platform. You can see this free webspace by typing www.yourmembername.f2s.com into a browser.

If you'd like to know more about how to use this webspace please look at our webhosting FAQ

No, unfortunately we will be de-commissioning the existing platform when we've moved all of our customer's websites.

On the original f2s web platform your ftp directory was the URL of your website; for example www.mysite.f2s.com. On the new platform because your site is identified by the new style ftp login name you need to simply change the ftp directory to be public_html.

We have increased the maximum size of your database from 10Mb to 150Mb. Once migrated you will automatically be entitled to use up to this amount.

Yes, if you have activated a webmaster password for your site before 5th January 2007 you need to reset your webmaster password in your members area by deactivating and then reactivating it.
With the new style ftp logins,
    myusername@mydomain.com
you need to use your webmaster password.
However after the migration, if you have not reset your password in your members area use your main account password as a fallback.

Re-activate your webmaster password in your website section:
